Open from 1st April to 1st November for individuals and groups
Legendary peoples, sages, merchants,
lords, clerics and, first and foremost, the
poor, without whom the others could not
have existed, have succeeded one another
or crossed each other’s paths in this
Dordogne valley.
We will take you on the Norbert sailing barges
to explore some of the most evocative
Périgord Noir sites as you drift along.
Our audioguides provided free of charge and
exclusivety reserved for aduts will tell you about
the boulders that tumbled onto the village, the bargemen’s
work and life, the fish, both migrant
and non-migrant, the times when the river
has flooded, the wars, the crusades and the
sieges laid to the castles, such as
Castelnaud.
All this will perhaps bring it home to you
why so many people from all over the world
come here.
Don’t worry, you won’t need to haul the
boat back upstream from the towpath, as
people still had to 150 years ago, to get
back to La Roque Gageac. |
